We get asked a ton of questions about mulch...

When we think of sprucing the yard for spring, one of the things we equate that with is flower beds. Along with deciding on annuals and perennials, we also need to address the ground cover for your flower beds. The most common options are mulch and pinestraw.
If you are using mulch, one of the most common questions we get asked is  “How long does colored mulch last?”

Colored mulch will last around a year. Depending on how much sun and rain we get. The natural aging process of wood will be effected by these two elements. Because colored mulch is a dye, it will eventually fade due to those two elements. However, most times, it is just the top layer that fades. If you install the mulch thick enough, throughout the year you can rake the mulch to bring forth the colored product underneath to keep it vibrant.

Most homeowners look at installing new mulch in their beds at this time of year to refresh for the year. One of the great things about colored mulch is that it is one of the most consistent products we sell. You will get the same, consistent product every time.

If colored mulch sounds like a product that will work well in your yard, give us a call or stop by any of our 5 locations to see the options and colors. We look forward to seeing you soon!
